Denim has taken a huge leap into the world of fashion over the past couple of decades. With the advent of “designer” denim brands and the opening of the high fashion world to denim jeans (and everything else), it’s no surprise that a good pair of dark wash pricey (looking) jeans are seen everywhere from your daughter’s wardrobe to Fashion Week in Paris.
However, that skit is a few years old and more behind the times than ever. Fairly new designer denim brand called, “Not Your Daughters Jeans” is trying to break the mold for women over 30 and mothers alike. No more pants pulled up to the armpits, no more hiding bumps and unflattering bulges with even less flattering pants.
Not Your Daughters Jeans has claimed the niche market of women who have generally opted for high-waist cuts, that while certainly are unflattering, are the lesser of the two evils when option number two is the dreaded muffin-top from low-cut jeans. But for women who accept neither option, NYDJ is the perfect alternative.
The brand prides itself on making fashionable clothing (that’s right, not just jeans) for women who can’t afford to spend enough time in the gym for it to be considered part-time work, and for women who have children and have found their bodies just don’t go back into quite their pre-baby shape.
Not Your Daughters Jeans prides itself on providing low-rise jeans that eliminate saggy legs and unflattering rears for women who still want some snugness in the right areas without running the risk of muffin-ing over their belt loops. The lycra/cotton blend promises to give just enough fit without too much squeeze that will definitely take the “mom” out of jeans of mothers cross-country.
While on the pricier side (average $80-$100) and sold at higher end department stores, these jeans keep their shape remarkably well and are undoubtedly worth the extra cost since you won’t replace a pair for years. If the price is still to steep, with some careful hunting of bargain stores like Marshall’s and Loehmann’s, you should be able to get a pair at a discount and enjoy all glorious perks of the cost.
Here is a link where you can buy one for yourself that is a skinny leg, or find another style to fit your body.
What do I think about those jeans?
I attend many minglers and all types of events, and as my luck would have it, of all the people in the room I’m the one that always gets spilled on. Be it a glass of wine or a burping baby – you can count on getting a good laugh. So, it may come as no surprise to you that I liked the Cindab Wrap-A-Round Clutch.
You can machine wash this purse! I tested out a white clutch that I wore during the day to brunch. Yes, I received several
compliments but it wasn’t the design that I cared about. When my cousin spilled her orange juice on my bag I didn’t freak out. Phew!
Mom didn’t like this purse as a going out accessory, rather she was ecstatic about it as a make up case (I can assure you her beauty book gets so dirty!) So she was excited that she could wash it.
P.s. I like that I could use this purse but I would also buy it as a gift for my girlfriend or grandma – definitely for a diverse
demographic. Big Plus!
